Build Your Card App Start free

Step 6 of 6 · about 15 minutes

Your first "it works" checklist

By the endYou can tick every line of the checklist, your work is backed up, and you know how to stop and start again tomorrow.

Your computer:

Stop and look at what you have. A week ago some of these words meant nothing. Go through the list and tick each one you can do without looking anything up.

The checklist

  • The Code tab is open on your project folder, in Manual mode.
  • Your plan file and your rules file are in the project folder, and Claude can list your rules.
  • You can read an Allow question and know when to say no.
  • You can run a command Claude hands you in the Terminal pane, and say "I ran it. Please check."
  • Your GitHub account has two-step sign-in, and your repository is private.
  • Your app's first screen runs on your phone through Expo Go.
  • You changed words and a color and watched the phone update.
  • You made a backup and saw it on GitHub.
  • You broke the screen on purpose and went back to the backup.

If one line isn't ticked, go back to that step. Each one is used every day from here.

Close up for the day

A short routine, every time you stop:

  1. Ask for a backup (step 4). Wait for the confirmation.
  2. Ask Claude to write a handoff note, so tomorrow's session starts where this one ended:
On a Mac
  1. In the Terminal pane, click inside and hold Control and press C. The server stops and the prompt returns. Expo Go on the phone shows it lost the connection; that is expected.
  2. Quit the Claude app with Command + Q if you like. Your session is saved.
On a Windows PC
  1. In the Terminal pane, click inside and hold Ctrl and press C. If it asks Terminate batch job (Y/N)?, type Y and press Enter. The server stops and the prompt returns. Expo Go on the phone shows it lost the connection; that is expected.
  2. Close the Claude window if you like, or quit it completely (Part 4, step 2). Your session is saved either way.

Start again tomorrow

Open the Claude app, click Code, click your session in the sidebar, and say: "Read notes.txt and tell me where we left off. Then give me the start command." Run it, scan the QR code, and carry on.

What comes next

Parts 0 to 5 are the free part of this guide. From Part 6 you build the real app one screen at a time, from your plan's must-have list: adding entries, saving them on the phone, the other screens, a help button, an icon. Each feature follows the same rhythm you used today: ask in plain words, allow, look at the phone, back up.
