Build Your Card App Start free

Step 3 of 6 · about 30 minutes

Change words and colors

By the endYou have changed the title, added a sample entry and changed a color, and watched each change appear on your phone.

This is the daily rhythm of building with Claude: you say what you want in plain words, Claude changes the files, and the phone updates on its own a second or two later. That last part is called Fast Refresh. No rebuilding, no re-scanning. The server from step 1 must still be running and the app open on your phone.

Three small changes

Send these one at a time. After each, look at your phone before sending the next.

Watch the phone. The title changes without you touching it. If it doesn't within ten seconds, see the trouble box.

For Binder, Claude adds a third card from the same game, for example one marked "Lightly Played" at "$4.50", and the Collection value total goes up.

For Binder, that is the Collection value total.

Each change gets an Allow question for the file it touches. Read it; say yes.

Say what you see, not how to build it

You don't need to know what a font size or a color code is. Describe what you see and what you want instead:

  • "The numbers are hard to read on the grey background. Make them stand out."
  • "There's too much space between the rows."
  • "Put the second line under the name, in smaller grey text."

If words aren't enough, take a screenshot on the phone, send it to your computer (the phone basics step at the end of Part 1), drop it into the message box, and describe the change: "Make the part I circled blue."

Look at what Claude changed

After each change, a small count like +3 -1 appears in the chat. To see the details, click the small counts like +12 -1 that appear after Claude edits, or click Changes in the title bar. The Changes pane shows the file with removed lines in red and added lines in green. You don't need to understand the lines. It is there so you can see that a "change the title" request touched one line, not fifty. If it touched fifty, ask why.
