Part 4 Free
Set up your workshop
Open the Code tab, make your project folder, learn how Claude asks permission, pick your rules, make a backup account on GitHub, and let Claude install the building tools.
Building an app needs a workshop: one folder on your computer, a few free tools, and a backup home for your work. In this part you set it up once. Claude does most of the installing. You learn the two skills you will use every day from now on: answering Claude's "Allow?" questions, and running the occasional command yourself.
You also choose your rules for Claude and give them to it in a file it reads every time. Then you make a GitHub account, where every change to your app is backed up. Parts 4 and 5 together take about a day for someone who has done Part 1, often less. On a Mac, the one long download, Xcode, runs in the background while you carry on. On a Windows PC there is no Xcode to download; the first step says what a PC does instead.
